The Special Interest Groups are an excellent avenue for the members of the association to participate in moving the vision and mission forward.
Special Interest Group 8 has focused on several public health issues over the last three years (noise and falls prevention) that bring forward information on practice issues, advocacy issues, and science issues. The focus has been on “empowering and supporting” our affiliates with information that is useful in clinical practice and in participation in the larger community, such as families and caregivers, the media, employers, third party payers, colleagues and practioners in other professions.
Our goal is to be inclusive across the human life span and across cultural groups, and to address topics including hearing loss prevention, (e.g. military, occupational, recreational), sudden hearing loss, forensic audiology, falls prevention, and other balance related issues as well as epidemiologic and sociologic issues.
